You don’t need to be vegan to enjoy all this food.
When Polly Met Fergie PE1 1PY
This all vegan restaurant and cocktail bar is located in the centre of town, hidden down Westgate Arcade. It is named after the owners’ dogs and you’ll often hear the sound of jazz from their bar. They fill your bowl (I mean really fill it – they don’t scrimp on sizes) with food even your meat loving friend will love. From loaded nachos to southern fried seitan the menu prices wouldn’t look out of place in one of the chain of restaurants in Cathedral Square.
“Like Polly & Fergie one compliments the other, the concept for our café is born of Love, a love for change…. a love of food that redefines the routine of ages.”
Resist! Vegan Kitchen PE3 8YQ
Established in 2016, it was “Peterborough’s first fully vegan eatery.” These self-named vegan pioneers not only care about animal welfare but have the community’s interest at heart too. Previously taking home at the Key Theatre they are now located at Peartree Business Centre offering munch boxes, sides, deserts and more – including a vegan cakeaway!
Be Kind Kitchen PE1 1AY
A kitchen born after a 31 year dream, this whole food plant-based restaurant serving the occasional “naughty vegan” option is primarily a one woman show. Angelique Williams is chief cook and even runs the financial and social side to the business. Focusing on a zero-waste lifestyle you can find food produced with both the animals and environment in mind. Head to the city market to support this small business, where you can even pick up a frozen-to-go meal “for those who do not have time to cook.”
“Our compact kitchen produces healthy gastronomic delights using seasonal, locally sourced and organic ingredients where possible.”
The Good Stuff PE1 1NA
Freshly prepared smoothies, juices, salads and soups. This “labour of love” has been built up after the owner Ash Sarman dealt with some difficult and challenging life decisions. There’s no need to feel guilty about having a McDonald’s for lunch anymore when just over the road, down Cowgate you can pick up a Good Stuff box.
“This is why I wanted to open The Good Stuff; a take-away concept that only offers fresh, wholesome and nutritious food, to enable others to embrace the power that a great diet can have.”
Embe PE1 1NA
An Afro-Caribbean restaurant with fantastic vegan jambalaya and curry options. This restaurant won’t disappoint because owner Nick Rutta has 16 years of experience in the industry under his belt. Even waiting for a collection order you’ll be swaying in your seat, half out of anticipation for the food and half from the music playing from the speakers. Previously located at the city market it has moved down Cowgate.
“You will find that Embe as a whole embodies soul food and soul music, particularly featuring the popular genres of reggae and jazz.”
Tacos and Flipflops regularly at the Ostrich Inn PE1 2RA
This family run fully vegan pop-up restaurant travels around Peterborough, Stamford and Deeping to bring their Mexican and Latin influenced food to new customers. To track them down head to their website, for now though, you can try their signature dish at home with taco packs.
“We put a lot of thought and hard work into everything to create an evening for you to enjoy with ease!”
